Floß, January 2018. Car manufacturers are counting more and more on the 48 volts electrical wiring system as an additional voltage level in the vehicle to provide further electrical loads with electricity as well as save assembly space and CO2.

Nexans autoelectric was able to acquire the third order for vehicles with 48V electrical wiring systems in December. Specifically this contains the wiring for a DC/DC converter, which is used in combination with the 48V electrical wiring system. Whereas with the first two orders Nexans autoelectric is directly supplying a major German car manufacturer, the recent business deal took place with a leading module manufacturer. After an approximately two-year developmental period the first wires will be employed in the vehicles at the end of 2019.
Apart from the utilization in conventionally driven vehicles the 48V electrical wiring system could become a key technology concerning E-Mobility, especially with Plug-in-Hybrid vehicles. Nexans autoelectric has been establishing itself as a supplier for high voltage wire harnesses for several years.
